Luna Bar

This is a very nice place to go...feel the sensational life there..
Luna Bar
On Top of the World

Situated at the top of one of the glitziest spots on KL, Luna Bar is the brand new place to be, with a one-of-a-kind view by the poolside, perfect view to the stars, and the night breeze blowing in your hair. JOYCE WONG steps up to a bar that gives “high-class” a whole new meaning.

A location as exclusive as the rooftop of the Pan Regency Hotel is sure to draw a decent amount of public curiosity and attention. Since its opening in mid-December 2004, Luna Bar has been a name mentioned constantly among working professionals. It has even seen an impressive stream of local film stars, artistes, and models appearing there to relax.Getting to Luna Bar itself requires a bit more effort not necessary for other places. Customers have to take a lift up to Level 7, where they switch lifts to go up to Level 33. Here, a flight of stairs lead you to the rooftop where you enter at the side of the main area. Big-set beige couches grouped around tables line up the side of your pathway as you saunter into an atmosphere quite unlike any other in the city.

The lighting in Luna Bar is relatively bright compared to other bars, which is great for those who prefer to see the face of the one they’re conversing with. Elements such as dark wood and granite allow the bar’s Al Fresco theme to be brought down to a pat. They are accentuated wonderfully by deep comforting hues of red, orange, yellow and green lowlights around the whole area. The absence of taller buildings on all sides of the Panglobal establishment allows customers to fully appreciate the view without obstruction. This factor also contributes greatly to the cool night breeze that blows refreshingly on you while sipping on your drinks.

What sets Luna Bar apart from your typical Malaysian bar is its interesting blend of outdoor and indoor space. The view from the rooftop is spectacular and will no doubt be one of the x-factors in drawing crowds. Enjoying one of their popular cocktails while staring off into the beautiful array of nightlights is perfect for chilling out after a hard day’s work.

Luna Bar consists of two floors – the main area and the mezzanine floor. The main area, complete with the swimming pool and long bar, accommodates most customers. Although the pool is only available to hotel guests before the hour of 7 pm, the illumination of the lights on the still waters provide added glamour to its already elegant atmosphere. You have a choice of either sitting on the lush couches, in the cubicles or at the long bar. The cubicles (which are sun decks by day) have raised tatami seats giving one more privacy and informality. The
y are an obvious favourite with most patrons and are built into the side of the wall with only glass separating you from thin air and a phenomenal view of the city.

The mezzanine floor is actually for VIP guests only and is situated just above the long bar in the main area. It is the highest level on the building and it is covered by canopies to keep you dry and your hair and make up intact even in bad weather. Access to this floor is by invitation only which is given out by the owner or General Manager of the bar at their own discretion.

The menu veers more to Italian cuisine with the foot-long hot dog and escargots as popular choices. Even though the dinner crowd comes in most from 7 pm – 9 pm, the kitchen does not close till 12 midnight. As for the drinks, the cocktails and mocktails are the “preferred drinks” at this place, so forget the beer as you would definitely want to be holding one of those to look like you belong.

Resident DJs spin chill out music seven days a week for a crowd that is there to unleash stress by having satisfying conversations over delicious cocktails. Recent weekends have seen foreign DJs being invited in, with plans for more to appear in the coming months. With a slightly pricey cover charge of RM50, you can be sure the amazing view and relaxing atmosphere will compensate for it.

With so many things that set Luna Bar in a class of its own, it certainly would be a different experience to have a few drinks with friends with the city lights twinkling below you. Even if it’s just for one night.
